History of Concordia
Concordia Lutheran Church is a member of the Northern Illinois District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. We are a Christian congregation and every activity and service within Concordia focuses on "Serving Christ from Cradle to Crown."
Concordia Lutheran Church was founded in March, 1952 by a group of Loves Park residents. The first meeting was held in the residential basement of Randolph Mueller. By September, the new congregation was holding Sunday services at the Loves Park Theater in exchange for cleaning up spilled popcorn and candy from the Saturday night movie audience. This hands-on dedication continued when the members literally built the original church sanctuary at the present location. The completed church was dedicated on June 12, 1955. Later additions included the parsonage (1958), our day school (1961), new sanctuary (1975), preschool/daycare (1992), and gymnasium (1998).
Our K-8 School and Early Childhood Center are both ministries of Concordia Lutheran Church and are fully accredited facilities. We provide a quality, affordable, Christian education in a safe and positive environment.
Concordia is a place to belong, a place to worship, a place to fellowship and be involved. We invite you to visit and worship with us.
